I made pie! including the pastry! I AM CHEF HEAR ME chill for 30 minutes and then roll out to a lightly floured surface!

Also, I read some books, including Ted Chiang's Stories of your life and others, which was the most imaginative, thoughtful and intelligent scifi I've seen for a while. It was a bit of a surprise to find out that I'd already read two of the short stories in it before and completely failed to make the connection. One of them was in the Tiptree award anthology, about a world in which you can have your appreciation of beauty turned off if you like, and the other in the back of Nature, about the antics of human science publishing after the post-humans start publishing by mind transfer (which baselines can not receive).

My favourite was Seventy-Two Letters, about genetic engineering in a pseudo-Victorian world where the name of god lexical representation of an object written on parchment and placed in a clay body violates thermodynamics, granting animation.
