I had a dream where [livejournal.com profile] xanthipe punched me for getting my polytheistic terminology wrong. I'm pretty sure that the correction she offered, "polychurch" isn't a real word, although it did make sense in my dream.

I am, however, intruiged by this polychurch thing. Was this a religious building designed for worship for multiple gods of the same pantheon? Of different pantheons? Of entirely different religions? Or just somewhere people could go to worship the concept of 'poly', however they interpret it? :D

I think it was a very formal form of polytheism, with a definite power structure, like orthodox Christians giving the saints a bit more credit for independence and power.
But really, the only thing I remember clearly was that I got it wrong and Dream!Xan corrected me. Percussively.

The irony being that apart from play punches I'm a very non-violent person, yet everyone thinks I am :P

I think the polychurch only exists if you have access to my Year 7 RE "Create a Religion" homework.

Was the "Create a Religion" homework. like this?

You will need
an ingroup
an outgroup
some arbitrary rules (beneficial outcomes optional)
some collective behaviours (singing is good)

Mix well. Bake in the desert for 40 years.

One kid built a model of his place of worship. It was on the moon and had a zipline between two towers.

Mine had a top floor that was a giant tropical conservatory with worship alcoves of different sizes for different events. I don't change...

Year 7!Xan sounds pretty awesome, so why change :)

Although the church of moon-ziplining (moon-church of zipism?) does sound like the sort of faith I could support.
