Jan. 16th, 2007 08:43 amSo the quiz thing has comprehensively proved that I don't know you very well. oops. What I think would be really awesome is if you recommend me a book or a movie or a piece of music or some other lump of culture(sculpture?) which means a lot to you and you can argue about convincingly and passionately. I'll try to read/view/listen/smell it before I see you again and then we can argue about it.
In the meanwhile, here's more Susan and Zombina:
EDIT: Initally, I was asking for things that you can uphold the value of during a discussion. Elmyra has suggested that "Well, maybe sometimes it's appropriate to just appreciate that this is what that person likes/what's influenced them.", so I I'd like recomendations of things that you like or have influanced you too, please.

Date: 2007-01-16 09:19 am (UTC)I shall have to take you to the National Art Gallery in Sofia at some point to show you sculptures and paintings which make me cry.
Also, may I point out that it's not always necessary to argue with people? ;-)
Now go on, return the favour. :-)

I wish I'd read Flatland (book, Edwin A. Abbott) when I was eight or nine, at least the mathmatics. The victorian social commentry might have been a bit over my head.

Rejected (animation, Don Hertzfeldt). The livliness of the charictors is absolutely wonderful. Its everything that animation should be. (I can understand you not getting (or hateing) the `plot', but you should at least admire the implimentation)

Date: 2007-01-16 10:33 am (UTC)I did (somewhat) change my mind on Rejected when forced to watch it twice over New Year. :-)
Have yet to read Flatland.
My favourite VNV song (and actually for a while my favourite song at all) is Rubicon...
"Also, may I point out that it's not always necessary to argue with people?" gesticulated elmyra emphaticly :P

:-P Well, maybe sometimes it's appropriate to just appreciate that this is what that person likes/what's influenced them.
