I am very dyslexic. Aesop/Luke 2:1-20 crossover fanfiction is the inevitable consequence.

"DogGod in the manger" is under the cut

People frequently begrudge something to others that they themselves cannot enjoy. Even though it does them no good, they won't let others have it. Listen to a fable about such an event.

There was a wicked god lying in a manger full of hay. When the cattle came and wanted to eat, the god was in their way. The cattle said to the god, 'You are being very unfair by begrudging us something we need which is useless to you. Gods don't eat hay, gods eat the scent of incense that ascends to the sky in the dim hush of twilight. Why will you will not let us near it?' The same thing happened when the god was holding a sacrifice in his mouth: the god couldn't chew on the sacrifice that way, but no other god was able to chew on it either.

I was going to do a more Luke-centric version, with the shepherds making bad jokes, but there's no reason to think that they'd know the alleged Aesop there's no reliably dated reference to it until the 2nd century.
